INDIE SUMMER
Wednesday nights at the Sun Bar, Church Gate, Leicester
Shows running now
Indie Summer is back;
the roadworks have cleared and its all
systems go for Leicester's summer of rock.
We
will play 2 or 3 Leicester bands at each
show or 2 Leicester bands and one out
of town band.
Our definition of "indie"
is fairly flexible but obviously we are
not playing metal, punk or hardcore bands.
Our aim is to showcase
both well established bands and some of
the best new bands in the city and county.
Initally entry to the
venue will be free; but a door charge will
be applied to raise money for the bands.
The season of shows is
being well publicised by Pink Angel Promotions
and by the venue.
The Sun Bar
The Sun is two minutes
walk from the Clock Tower, along Church
Gate. Bands arriving by car are advised
to enter Churchgate by St Peters Lane.

of 200. This is an 18+ venue and all customers
are strongly advised to carry suitable
id with them.

Drinks Offers
Drinks offers: £1 for Corkys shots, VK (all flavours), Budweiser, Fosters, + Voddy and RedBull £2.95 + house doubles £3 - all from 8 p.m. all night.
Sound System
All shows are supported
by quality sound systems with audio
engineers onsite throughout. Bands need
to bring their own drum kits, amps and
backline.
Information for bands
All bands playing at
Indie Summer are booked through Get Your
Band On. We will usually play 2or 3 Leicester/shire
bands per night and ONE out of town band
(i.e. outside of Leicestershire.)
Our music policy is to
play bands that are roughly described as
indie: i.e. melodic rock. We will not be
playing old school punk, metal or hard
rock bands.
If you want your band to play at an Indie Summer show you should register with Get Your Band On via our main web site (link above).
All shows are supported
by quality sound systems with audio engineers
onsite throughout. Bands need to bring
their own drum kits, amps and backline.
If your band has special equipment requirements,
please let us know at least 7 days before
the event. Arrivals and sound checks
are from 6.30 p.m. The first band will
play from 8.30 and shows are usually completed
by 11.30 p.m. at the latest.
Band members can buy
inexpensive, hot, tasty meals from the
Sun Bar - always good if you've come
straight from work or you have had to travel
some way to get there.
All bands are expected
to bring some fans with them and indeed
will receive a payment based on the number
of tickets sold with band flyers.
Whilst
we will do our best to raise money from
door charges, we cannot guarantee any
level of ticket sales. We try to help touring
bands who are not easily able to bring
any fans in with them but at the end
of the day its all about how much money
comes in to GYBO on the night.
Bands are paid by Get
Your Band On and not by the Sun Bar.
All bands playing at
the Indie Summer shows are given a free
account at Get Your Band On (providing
they have registered). This entitles the
band to a number of free gig bookings and
some publicity services in addition to
what ever they get paid for their performance
at the Sun Bar.

Get Your Band On produces
the shows and the venue hosts the event. |
