Leicester's covered market is the largest of its kind in Europe.

The market is situated in the centre of the city, with easy access from the main shopping area. It occupies the areas between Gallowtree Gate and Hotel Street, The Horsefair and the High Street. It is in the LE1 postcode area.

The multitude of stalls offer fresh fruit and vegetables and a wide variety of goods and products. Over 270 fixed stalls are available every day, between 7 am and 6 pm.

Adjacent to the retail market, the Covered Market provides a selection of stalls offering fresh fish and seafood, meats, cheese and hardware.

There is a smaller market at the Beaumont Leys Shopping Centre.
